July 2022
Is That All You Got?
July 4th is one of my favorite holidays. It is not because of the cookouts or beautiful display of sparkles in the sky from fireworks, but it is the day I was born.
My momma always says that the year I was born she missed the fireworks, but I was worth it.
This year I celebrated my 55th birthday. I know I don’t seem that old, but it is a reality.
We celebrated with fireworks and cake as usual. Two days later, around midnight, we had a massive storm of lightning, thunder, and heavy rain. The thunder roared at the front of our house and echoed to the back. Then it would roar out back and shake the house as if where a rattle. The lightning was everywhere in the sky and constant. It was lighting up the house as if it were taking photos with a flash.
We had settled into bed about two hours before this mighty storm invaded our sleep.
It made me anxious because it was so loud and strong. The rain was beating against our bedroom window as if it were a power spray wash.
The fear turned into delight because it was as if God said, “Is that all you got? Let me show you, my fireworks.” I smiled as I had this thought go through my mind.
Manmade fireworks are nothing in comparison to what God spoke into existence.
With all that is going on in our world these days, I felt as if God was saying, “Whatever comes your way I am still in control!” I was reminded that He made and controls everything and I don’t have to worry what each day may bring.
Fireworks can easily get out of control because it might have a short fuse or explode unexpectedly. When someone lights a firework, they usually run or move swiftly to avoid any injury.
God’s fireworks of lightning and thunder are out of my control, but God has perfect control over the light and sound show.
The next time you have a thunder and lightning storm grab your favorite beverage, a chair, and watch the most beautiful symphony and light show you will ever see and hear.
The speaking engagement that was scheduled for July 23 has been moved to August 20th!
I can't wait to "see" you all there!
Thanks for your support.
The next time you want to have some fun around the dinner table with family try making a taco table.
Most restaurants were closed on my birthday so I saw this idea on social media. It was a hit!
Put your chips in a circle and put all your favorite toppings. It was yummy!
